On Wed, August 12th, Reliance Home Comfort™ participated in the 20th Annual Flame of Hope Golf Tournament at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club in London, ON in support of diabetes research. Over the course of the day, over $82,000 was raised to support this important cause.
Reliance™ has supported this tournament in a variety of ways over the last 10 years. Reliance’s Niven Petersen, Manager, Business Support and Core Market Expansion and Amanda McWha, Workforce Planning Manager are on the Flame of Hope golf committee. The company’s support has also included serving as a dinner sponsor, hole and team sponsor as well as providing prizes for the silent auction.
This year, the company had a Reliance Home Comfort™ bubble truck on Hole 10 with Gail Garbett, Home Comfort Advisor and Elizabeth Carpenter, Inside Sales Advisor talking to golfers and promoting a special partnership with the Canadian Diabetes Association. If any golfer purchased a furnace and air conditioner, Reliance™ would donate $100 towards the Canadian Diabetes Association in the customer’s name. As well, Reliance’s Rob Jutras, Vice-President; Sales, Paul Slinger, Vice-President, Strategic Projects; Rob Kingshott, Home Comfort Advisor; and Niven Petersen golfed in the tournament to support the cause with some business partners Peter Neil of Boardwalk Property Management company and Jack Wratten of Goodman Canada.
This year was the 20th anniversary of the Flame of Hope Golf Tournament and it was particularly special to Amanda McWha whose father co-founded the tournament 20 years ago. Amanda presented the Bob McWha Memorial Award to Chuck Kloetstra, the other co-founder of the tournament, for his support in raising $740,000 over the last 20 years towards Diabetes Research.
“It was a wonderful day for Reliance Home Comfort™ to support such a great cause in the London community,” said McWha.
